About Me

Welcome to Review Yo' Ass. I have taken the title from the Parks and Rec phrase “Treat Yo' Self”, and I am Treating Myself by Reviewing Yo' Ass. Simply put, it has been a worrying time seeing America re-elect a clown (I am trying to be charitable here) and his cabal, especially with the impact on women. In times of worry it is recommended to journal thoughts to get them out, or to write letters to people that are annoying you and never send them. So, with a Myles Barlow-esque nod this is my way of dealing with my angst at the state of America right now: by Reviewing Yo' Ass and posting it here. Reviews are out of 5 stars.

No news is. . . . . good news?

I've kept my news feeds, news apps, and TV news off and it's an extraordinarily good feeling - I've now gone 20 days with no news! I read somewhere that turning off the news for 7 days was one of the best ways to decrease stress. Presumably because you are not seeing wars, famine, and generally stupid national/international decisions being made. 20 days must take me into realms of zen. I feel extraordinarily calm. A good thing, I'm thinking. But I can't help having feelings of doubt. Right now my entire world consists of home, short trips to various places for groceries etc, and any snippets of information that friends or family share. And it got me wondering: is this how the majority of America experiences the world? I ask as only 4% of the electorate said "world affairs" were important to them. Just in a bubble of home, car, short trips, errands. Not caring about anything past their immediate neighborhood?  Are they trapped in the hall of mirrors that is Fox or CNN unable to find the way out? Though it doesn't feel like the majority of Americans are in a calm, zen like state.

Feeling like your universe is as big as Honey I Shrunk the Kids: 3 stars.
