I went on a 15-mile hike in a State Natural Area, and you’d think you could enjoy the peace and quiet at that distance. But no. At the 8.3-mile mark, there was a beautiful wooden bench, in the shade. I sat and looked at nature, and more importantly, enjoyed the peace and quiet that came with hiking that distance and just me, a bench, and nature. After a few minutes 2 mountain bikers turned up and started talking very loudly about compression settings. They looked at me and tried to strike up a conversation by saying “isn’t the peace and quiet great out here?” It was until you turned up.
