About Me

Welcome to Review Yo' Ass. I have taken the title from the Parks and Rec phrase “Treat Yo' Self”, and I am Treating Myself by Reviewing Yo' Ass. Simply put, it has been a worrying time seeing America re-elect a clown (I am trying to be charitable here) and his cabal, especially with the impact on women. In times of worry it is recommended to journal thoughts to get them out, or to write letters to people that are annoying you and never send them. So, with a Myles Barlow-esque nod this is my way of dealing with my angst at the state of America right now: by Reviewing Yo' Ass and posting it here. Reviews are out of 5 stars.

Eating in the dark.

Cinemas are not restaurants. Let's get that straight. Eating in the dark is not what restaurants serve up (except the gimmicky ones from early 2000s Sydney, and the world has since moved on). I was at the movies recently, and the person to my right had brought an entire pizza in. And not a single serve pizza, or just a slice. The lights go off, the movie starts, and he proceeds to get a slice of pizza and almost leap his mouth onto where he thinks the pizza should be - it was like a fish leaping open mouthed out of the water to catch a fly. Sometimes he hit the mark with a slice, and sometimes toppings went on his lap. He left the crusts, and then after a pause started up on the crusts. Being a thin crust pizza, the crusts were like eating toast: crunch, crunch, crunch. As I looked bemusedly side ways at him, I wanted to ask him (and her, he was with a woman who didn't get a look in on the pizza): why couldn't you have included dinner in your date, or get together? Surely dinner first, and then a movie; or a movie, and then dinner? The movie was at 7pm - plenty of time either side for eats. Why combine the two events? Why risk the lights going on and your friend seeing you with pizza stains on your shirt and pants? There's just no need! And I know no one in this day and age seems to care about anything other than themselves, but try and think of your fellow patrons. . . . . the smell, the noise, the sheer revoltingness of you slopping toppings down your front.

Being kept in the dark is better for some individuals: 1 star.
