About Me

Welcome to Review Yo' Ass. I have taken the title from the Parks and Rec phrase “Treat Yo' Self”, and I am Treating Myself by Reviewing Yo' Ass. Simply put, it has been a worrying time seeing America re-elect a clown (I am trying to be charitable here) and his cabal, especially with the impact on women. In times of worry it is recommended to journal thoughts to get them out, or to write letters to people that are annoying you and never send them. So, with a Myles Barlow-esque nod this is my way of dealing with my angst at the state of America right now: by Reviewing Yo' Ass and posting it here. Reviews are out of 5 stars.

50 window blind shades of grey.

I've done quite a bit of flying over the past year, and there's one thing I don't understand. Why does everyone on the plane keep their window blind closed? It's purely an American thing, I've never seen it happen in any other country. You get on an American airline, and all the window blinds are down, the plane interior gives off an eerie grey glow, everyone takes their seats, and I (and possibly 2 to 3 other passengers) am the only one that opens the window blind. Doesn't anyone else find it fascinating to watch the airport and workers from the tarmac side? Doesn't anyone find it awe inspiring flying through clouds and looking down and through them? What about looking down at snow covered peaks, lakes, or tiny ant sized cars? Where has people's wonder in the world gone? But what concerns me more than all these people's lack of excitement in the world and how it looks from different angles, is their risk of a self-induced heart attack. And here's why: if your window blind is closed and the plane is landing, how can you anticipate the big bump when the plane hits the tarmac? It's that simple, at some point there is going to be a fairly substantial jolting of the plane on landing and no one can anticipate this if the window blind is down. I just don't understand how anyone can not get a "jump scare" effect if they have no idea when this big jolt is going to happen. Or maybe in some wild and crazy way Americans have worked out they can get their theme park ride feeling/jacked up caffeinated energy drink effect/horror movie adrenaline pump for free on an airplane.

The home of the brave: 3 stars.
