I have one question for people who need things explained like they’re 5: have you thought of aspiring a little higher? I am presuming these are the same people who struggle with correct apostrophe placement. When I first started out in the workforce, my job involved some public speaking. I was sent on a public speaking course and one of the key themes was that the content of your talk should be aimed at a 12-year-old so that everyone could understand. How have we got to 5? Does your brain hurt if you use it? Have you missed the message that learning new things as you get older staves off cognitive decline? I read that human IQ has increased over time, but I wonder where these people are today. I think they must have founded a colony on an island somewhere.
